Okay, first of all, Carber is not a real word. It's just a word I made up. But about a week and a half ago, I began a journey of eating more protein and less carbs. Why, you ask. Well, my cholesterol is extremely high and I really don't want to go on medication. A dear friend of mine lent me her copy of Protein Power. This book changed the way I look at my diet. It basically said that some of us become insulin resistant or have excess insulin in our system. It goes on to describe if you increase your protein intake and decreasing your carbs...it will level out your insulin level. Which in turn, can fix high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and some other medical things. Plus, it also helps in weight loss. Okay, you found me out...I am actually going more for the weight loss than for the lowering of my cholesterol. Ha ha.
Well, I was doing great until last night at church. We had some of the ladies make some Latin dishes. Like arroz con gandules (rice and green pigeon peas) and carne guisada (kind of like a beef stew but oh so much better). First thing, rice is pretty much a...carb. Secondly, I LOVE rice. So, what happen next...was a carb overload train wreck. I had two helpings of arroz con gandules. There went that week of trying to stay away from the carbs. They just lured me into to their tasty web. Oh well, I'm back on the low carb wagon. So, here we go again. I'll keep you posted on the progress...

Our Newest Addtion

So, for Abbagail's birthday we decided it was time to add to our small family of 6, actually 7 (including Sarah) and we went to the Humane Society and picked up a puppy. As we were deciding what to name this wonderful ball of energy, the kids came up with Chewy Bacca Fry. Yes, after the wonderful Star Wars character Chewbacca. Let's hope he doesn't live up to his name of Chewy. It has been two days of fun with lots of picking & cleaning up dog poo. And yes, my shoe has even found some... Here is some photos of Chewy.

Clutter, Clutter, EVERYWHERE!!!
Clutter seems to grow in my wonderful new house the Lord just provided us. Prior to moving in, I would never have thought we would/could fill up half of this huge house. And yet, I have seem to manage to fill each room (with a storage room jam packed with JUNK) and now I have moved on to cluttering up my desk area and kitchen. Ugh!! I feel like I can't keep this mess under foot. This clutter is like that mold on that month old piece of stale bread. It starts off as a little white speck; and then, it grows to be a nice shade of pea green with hair growing on it. My clutter seems to do the same thing. It starts with a couple pieces of mail and the next thing you know the mail has spilled out across my desk and onto the floor. Yuck and Ugh (in the same breath)!
Well, I guess that is enough writing. Now I must go a de-clutter my desk...I have an urge!!

Okay I am going to do this!
As of today, I am going to do this...write consistently on my blog. (And it isn't January 1st or a Monday). I have read so many great blogs that different moms from different backgrounds have written and realized I can do this too! I have wanted to write for years but never seem to find the time to write or I have felt that my writing would put the reader to sleep. But, you know what? Who cares? It's my time...to begin a new chapter in my life. So, now it begins! Today!!!
